
Spring Academy hosted by Springdale Fire Department
Location: Mickey Jackson Training Center, 2398 Turnbow Ave., Springdale, AR 72764


The NWA Fire Training Academy is held twice annually. The academy is approximately 10 weeks, and it is held at a location to be determined in the Northwest Region consisting of all member departments as they work to bring you the best-trained firefighters. In the first week prior to the start of each academy, recruits will attend what is called a “pre-academy” where recruits will receive the following pre-requisite courses:
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Haz-Mat Awareness
- Haz-Mat Operations
- NIMS ICS 100 – Take Online at https://training.fema.gov/nims/
- NIMS ICS 200 – Take Online at https://training.fema.gov/nims/
- NIMS ICS 700 – Take Online at https://training.fema.gov/nims/
- NIMS ICS 800 – Take Online at https://training.fema.gov/nims/
- Wildland Firefighting
If a candidate is not currently EMS licensed, then and EMR certification is required:
- EMR (Emergency Medical Responder) 40-hours – Contact Battalion Chief Pat Lee at the Springdale Fire Department for EMR specific dates to be held in 2024.

Departments shall utilize this checklist ASAP, complete it, and send in the form to the Fire Academy Coordinator to ensure your candidate has a reserved seat. Also, please arrange for any payment due.
